People always say that long distance relationships never work. Enter Ann & Drew. This new wife and husband team spent the first year and a half of their relationship dating long distance. She called New Hampshire home, and he lived nearly 500 miles south, in Washington, DC. All of those long phone calls and trips back and forth led to this one perfect day in Purcellville, VA.
During our conversations leading up to their wedding, Ann & Drew expressed how excited and honored they were to celebrate the first day of their marriage with all the people who have supported their long distance journey. This would be the FIRST time that their families would meet each other. They wrote to me, “The fact that so many people are making a long trip for us is really special; we are very grateful for that and we want the photos to be a testament.” Statements like this always remind me how incredibly lucky I am to capture such an important piece of family history.
Shadow Creek provided the perfect setting for Ann & Drew’s wedding on a sunny June afternoon. Baby calves in a neighboring field spied as the couple shared their first look, and Gus the horse made a special appearance during cocktail hour. Guests witnessed unexpected wedding veil acrobatics during the ceremony as well as the sweetest father-daughter moments on the dance floor. Drew got “iced” during a maid of honor toast, many dance-offs ensued, and the couple ran off towards their new marriage through a runway of sparklers!
Ann & Drew, I hope these photos always remind you of all the amazing moments that surrounded your first day as husband and wife. Thank you SO MUCH for letting me capture them! Cheers!
