One of the many things that I love about photographing weddings in DC is finding those tucked away spaces of serenity amidst all the hustle of the city. Kristin and Anand found one of these DC jewels in The St. Regis, and their ceremony felt like it took place in a secret garden (…just blocks away from the White House)!
I absolutely loved working with these two, and have been excited for their big day ever since they told me about all of the awesome details they were planning during their engagement session last year. Kristin & Anand planned a wedding that was COMPLETELY them. They held onto the traditions that meant something to them and created new traditions left and right. Their ceremony was filled with touching words read by friends, and their AMAZING rings were hand delivered mid-ceremony by their very own ring “bear-er” (their adorable dog, Bear)! Kristin managed to make her soon-to-be husband simultaneously laugh/cry, when she surprised him by the most elegant string quartet arrangement of the Star Wars theme song. (Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper also graced the reception dance floor to wish Kristin’s nephew a very happy birthday.) They even brought some New Orleans flair to the reception by opening up the dance floor with a “Second Line” entrance, feather parasols and all!
Kristin and Anand, thank you SO MUCH for letting me capture these moments! I hope the rest of your lives are filled with all the laughter, serious style, and thoughtfulness of your wedding day. Cheers!
