The Conrad DC Wedding Suzanne & Steve

Weddings

April 16, 2021

Suzanne and Steve celebrated their first day of marriage surrounded by an intimate gathering of loved ones at what has quickly become one of my favorite DC venues!

Their story is best told in the bride’s own words:

“We met in Washington, DC more than two years ago thanks to modern dating technology 😉 while Suzanne was in her second year of fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and Steve was working at Hilton’s headquarters in Tysons Corner.

The past three years have been nothing but a blast! We have journeyed around the world exploring China, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Peru. Our domestic activities haven’t been too shabby either: we were fortunate enough to attend the World Series, see Billy Joel’s 100th concert at Madison Square Garden, and watch a number of Capitals games (and to this day, Suzanne thanks Steve for not proposing at a hockey game). One of the things we love most about each other is that there is never a dull moment!

In July 2019, we got engaged at one of Steve’s favorite hotels, The Beverly Hilton. Steve had a trail of rose petals in our room leading to the balcony where he proposed at sunset. We decided to celebrate our greatest adventure yet by getting married in Lake Como, Italy in June 2020. In October 2019, we went to Lake Como with both of our families and all of us knew this was the place for our wedding. Then in Spring 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic spread globally, we had much thought and reflection (and with the guidance of the Italian and US governments), and came to the stark realization that a June wedding in Como is not possible.

Suzanne spent the past year donning and doffing scrubs and other PPE as a critical care doctor; Steve risked life and limb on his treacherous commute from his bedroom to his home office (and if you have seen his condo, that is a treacherous commute). We considered ourselves very lucky and now that vaccination is in place, we felt comfortable to bring our families together for a small celebration. As we have had many a fun night at the Conrad in Washington, DC this was the place for us to celebrate.”
